The Museum showcases over two hundred years of prison life! Here, you can see the weapons and amazing matchstick models crafted by prisoners.

Constructed by Thomas Telford, the prison has been on the current site since 1793. A number of public executions have taken place at the site.

We welcomes all visitors. However, due to the nature of our historic site some parts of the Victorian building may present difficulties for people with disabilities and limited mobility. Please get in touch with any questions.
