Reflecting On Unforgettable Events

At Shrewsbury Prison, our calendar has been packed with memorable events. From delving into our dark past during History Day to experiencing the thrill of spending a Night Behind Bars in a real prison (returning this April), there’s been something for everyone to enjoy. We’ve also welcomed a range of venue hires, with one of the most talked about being Locked Up’s Tattoo Convention! Imagine over 140 talented artists tattooing throughout the prison grounds! Back for its third year in 2025, you’re not going to want to miss it!

Filming Wrapped Up for 2024

This year, Shrewsbury Prison has also been a popular location for a range of film and TV productions. One standout was Joan, the ITV drama starring Sophie Turner as Joan Hannington. The series tells the gripping story of Joan’s transformation into a notorious jewel thief. Another memorable moment was when the This Morning presenter, Josie Gibson, visited the prison and spent the whole night in a cell! With filming for 2024 complete, we cannot wait to see what exciting productions will take place next.
