Shrewsbury Prison is renowned as One of The Most Haunted Prisons In The World! Join our 5* rated Ghost Tour to uncover what lurks behind the imposing prison walls in the dead of night!
Starting at the Georgian gate lodge, your expert guide will transport you back to 1793 to the days of public executions, which took place on the very same gate lodge. You’ll discover the treatment of prisoners and, of course, the ghostly encounters that have occurred over the past 200 years.
Your guide will lead you to C Wing, rumoured to be the most haunted part of the prison. Here, you’ll hear the stories of the ‘Grey Lady’ who walks the landings at night and the little Georgian child who appears on the steps of the wing.

Heading over to A Wing, you’ll follow in the footsteps of ‘Shadow Man’, Shrewsbury Prison’s most seen spirit. Often spotted walking the landings, you’ll hear about his story and the numerous documented sightings of him.
Next, it’s time for your In-Cell Experience*. Your guide will allocate you a prison cell. With your cell door will be closed, this will be your new home for the next 5 minutes. Experiencing the sound of the prison at night, you’ll be able to hear a pin drop and the footsteps of the Prison Officers walking the landings. For those brave enough, your light will be turned off leaving you in complete darkness.

Before being released for the night, your penultimate stop is outside the Governor’s office. Here, you’ll hear about the encounter a member of the Holby City production team had with the Governor’s wife, who died 200 years ago!
